• Avoid: family, friends, or peers (not considered objective references)

2. Confirm Willingness

• Contact each referee before listing them in your application.

• Confirm they can provide a strong, detailed recommendation.

• Collect their:
  • Full name
  • Professional title & organization
  • Official email address (preferably institutional)
  • Phone number (if required)

3. Prepare Your Referees

• Brief them on the MPAS program and your goals.

• Share your resume, academic background, and career objectives.

• Let them know they’ll receive an automatic email with instructions.

4. Enter Referee Information in Your Application

• Log in to your portal → Supplemental Items & Documents → Recommendation Requests.

• Enter each referee’s:
  • Full name
  • Position/title
  • Institution/organization
  • Email address
  • Relationship to you (e.g., supervisor, instructor)

5. Verify Email Accuracy

• Double-check emails — a typo can block delivery.

• Use official institutional emails whenever possible.

6. Automated Email Sent to Referees

• Once submitted, referees receive an email with:
  • Link to upload their recommendation
  • Submission deadline
  • Instructions for completing the form

7. Monitor Submission Status

• In the Recommendation Requests section, you can:
  • Check if letters are submitted
  • Send reminders
  • Cancel/replace requests if needed

8. Follow Up with Referees

• Politely remind referees a few days before the deadline.

• The program office will not contact them on your behalf.

9. Confirm Completion

• Once all three references are submitted and all supplemental documents uploaded, your application status will show “Complete”.

• Only then will your application move forward for review.
